Minimum Deposit The minimum deposit required to open a Wachovia Cash Investment or Money Market Checking Account will be reduced to $1,000 effective January 1,1985. The minimum deposit is currently $2,500. The reduction in the minimum balance is another step in a gradual deregulation of money market accounts authorized by the Depository Institutions Deregulation Committee, according to James T. Brewer, executive vice president of Wachovia's Retail Banking Group. After January 1 the minimum average daily balance that will be required for these accounts to earn money market rates will be reduced from $2,500 to $1,000, Brewer said. If the average balances fall below $1,000 during a month, the rate paid on interest-bearing checking accounts (currently 5 V* percent) will apply. Wachovia customers who already have money market accounts will receive informa tion about the changes in their next statements. Persons interested in opening an account can obtan further information from a Personal Banker. Rescue Squad 15 and Vanceboro Volunteers work quickly to remove accident victim from overturned vehicle. The vehicle driven by Raymond Leroy Bryant of Vanceboro, Route 1, traveled through bridge railing landing upside down In Swift Creek.
